2016年11月より美術家・西尾美也を迎え、約1年半かけて行ったプロジェクトです。まずは「たんす」に通う地域の女性たちの「衣服」や「装い」に対する固定概念を崩すことを目的に6つのワークショップを実施。西尾が過去に行なったワークショップや作品制作をベースにお題が出され、6名の参加者が服作りに挑戦しました。地域の女性たちによる予想を裏切るアレンジや発想の飛躍、西尾が考えるイメージとの齟齬など、予期せぬズレを面白がり、そこからさらにアイデアを更新していくといったプロセスを経て、ファッションブランド「NISHINARI YOSHIO」のコンセプトへとつながっていきます。

約1年のワークショップ期間を経て、西尾と地域の女性たちとの共同制作によるファッションブランドとして立ち上がった「NISHINARI YOSHIO」。コレクション第一弾は、コラボレーターである地域の女性たち5名がそれぞれ選んだ身近な知人への思いやりがデザインとして変換され、作成されたワークジャケット（作業着）がプロトタイプとなっています。５つの試作を元に商品化された初のコレクションは、工房である「たんす」2Fに新た設えたショップにて発表すると同時に写真家・坂倉圭一によるファッションフォトも別会場（大阪府立江之子島文化芸術創造センター[enoco]）にて展示しました。

This project by artist Nishio Yoshinari unfolded over approximately a year and a half, consisting of five workshops aimed at rethinking fixed ideas of "clothing" and "how to dress" among local women who frequent Tansu. Each session developed from the previous one, with Nishio introducing a new theme, and six participants engaging in the process of garment-making.
The results were full of unexpected developments: the participants' adaptations and additions often went beyond the artist's initial expectations. Nishio found this gap--between his intentions and the outcomes--particularly compelling, leading to the development of a new fashion label, "NISHINARI YOSHIO."
Following the workshop period, the brand was established as a collaboration between Nishio and the participating local women. Its first collection was based on five prototype work jackets, each embodying the care of the women toward individuals they had chosen. The collection, produced from these prototypes, was presented at a newly opened shop on the second floor of Tansu, the workshop space where the project had been developed.
At the same time, fashion photographs by Sakakura Keiichi were exhibited at the Enokojima Art, Culture and Creative Center (enoco).
The Nishinari-born fashion label "NISHINARI YOSHIO" continues to develop.

kioku手芸館「たんす」について
北門通りの元・鈴木タンス店を多くのボランティアスタッフの方々と清掃・改装し、美術家・呉夏枝のコンセプトスペースとして2012年12月にオープンしました。「たんす」では、ワークショップ工房／展示ギャラリーの機能を残しつつ、「つくる」ことを軸にした創造活動拠点として継続的に展開しています。
