2015年3月に廃校になった旧今宮小学校にて継続して地域に開かれた＜作業場＞をつくる実験。
＜地域にあるものを活かす＞＜他領域との協働＞＜アートを媒介にする＞をコンセプトに、参加者の皆さんと共に、「ものづくり」を軸としたたさまざまな作業を発生させていくことで、誰もが立ち寄りたくなる「魅力的な風景を」生み出していくプロジェクトです。
地域の町会、福祉施設、児童館、小中学校や高校等との連携・協働を図りながら、地域へのさらなる浸透と定着をめざして活動を展開しています。
土の再生やこねる作業から始まる陶芸作業
校庭の体育倉庫に残る 30 年以上使われていなかった陶芸窯を再生。くず土の再生や土こねなど粘土をつくる作業から始まり、窯詰め・窯焚き・窯出しまで一連の作業を参加者とともに行っています。
廃材を使った積み木づくりや木工作業
学校に残る廃材や解体現場などから集めてきた木材を活用して、空間デザイナー坪田 直がファシリテーターとなり、＜作業場＞に必要な作業台やベンチ、看板などを制作したり、美術家・ブブ・ド・ラ・マドレーヌは、廃材をすべすべになるまで磨き上げる積み木づくりを行っています。
学習園を再利用した畑作業・循環システムから考える 庭づくり生ゴミから堆肥づくり（コンポスト）を行い、季節の野菜などを栽培。収穫物から採集した種や自然に芽吹いた苗を育てるなど、畑の実験を行っています。2016 年度からは、造園家・安藤聡が参加し、落葉樹の植樹や三和土(たたき)づくりなど、循環システムを取り入れた庭づくりも進めています。
An ongoing series of experiments in creating a "Workplace" open to local residents, held at the site of the former Imamiya Elementary School, which closed in March 2015.
Based on the ideas of "utilising what already exists in the area", "collaboration across different fields", and "using art as a medium", the project seeks to create "fascinating scenery" that people naturally want to become part of through a variety of "works" centred on making things.
Through collaboration and cooperation with local neighbourhood associations, care facilities, children's centres, and elementary, junior high, and high schools, we continue working to further embed and establish these activities within the local community.
Ceramic Making Beginning with the Regeneration of Soil and Kneading Clay
We restored a pottery kiln that had sat unused for thirty years in the school's sports equipment shed. Together with participants, we carry out the entire ceramics-making process, beginning with clay preparation--including recycling discarded clay and kneading it--and continuing through loading, firing and unloading the kiln.
Making Block Toys from Recycled Materials and Other Woodworking Activities
Space designer Tsubota Nao joined the project as a facilitator, working with participants to create worktables, benches, and signboards, for "The Workplace", using timber collected from scrap materials left at the school and demolition sites. Artist Bubu de la Madeleine creates block toys from recycled materials, polishing them until they become exceptionally smooth.
We grow seasonal vegetables using compost made from our food waste generated through our activities. Gardening experiments are carried out by collecting seeds from harvested produce and allowing naturally emerging seedlings to continue growing. Since 2016 landscape architect Ando Satoshi has participated in the project, leading to the development of gardens that incorporate a circular ecosystem, including the planting of deciduous trees and the creation of compacted earth surfaces (tataki).

きむらとしろうじんじん KIMURA Toshiro jinjin
美術家。1967年新潟県生まれ、京都府在住。京都市立芸術大学大学院美術研究科で陶芸を学ぶ。1995年より、大小2台のリヤカーに、陶芸窯・素焼きのお茶碗・うわぐすりなどの陶芸道具一式と、お抹茶セット一式を積んでまちの様々な場所にあらわれる移動式カフェー旅回りのお茶会「野点 (のだて)—焼立器飲茶美味窯付移動車」を全国各地で開催している。2008年には、参加者がオリジナルの屋台を制作し、各々の「魅力の予感」をまちの路上に持ち出す「野点2008＋妄想屋台祭り」を水戸芸術館主催で水戸市内各所で開催。また、2010〜2013年度には東京アートポイント計画の一環として、一般社団法人「谷中のおかって」とともに東京都台東区谷中界隈を舞台にこども創作教室「ぐるぐるミックス」の立ち上げに関わる。
